The winemaking region of Oltrepo Pavese in Lombardia is known to produce highly acclaimed red wines the endemic Croatina (Also known as Bonarda) variety is cultivated and produced to perfection here. Alziati Winery is known within connoisseurs circles to be at the pinnacle of this elite group, for saving no efforts or resources in maintaining excellence across their portfolio. This is their "Riserva", a title kept for the best. This 2005 vintage is made from a traditional 90% Croatian and 10% Uva Rara (rare grape) and is now perfect to drink (however can be aged further). You can expect a mild but developed nose of ripe red and blackberries, nutty, cedary and spicy oak notes that lead to a wide palate, voluminous, dry and mineral, full of tart fruit with a mild touch of spice.
